Joseph Dolezal Named BIG EAST Co-Golfer of the Week

Dolezal won medalist honors at the Gulf Coast Collegiate earlier this week
NEW YORK- St. John's men's golfer Joseph Dolezal was named BIG EAST Golfer of the Week, the league announced on Thursday afternoon.
Dolezal earns his first conference recognition on the heels of his first individual title on Tuesday at the Gulf Coast Collegiate in New Orleans. The sophomore finished atop the 80-golfer field at English Turn Golf and Country Club after shooting a 9-over, 225.
The Long island native tied with Augusta University's Chapman Barnett and Pieter Rossouw at the top of the leaderboard but captured the tiebreaker after carding the lowest third round score amongst the trio with a 3-under, 69.
Dolezal shined in the final round to take home medalist honors. After sitting in 16th place with a 12-over following two rounds of action, the Old Westbury, N.Y., native delivered the best single-round score amongst the tournament field logging a 3-under, 69. Dolezal was particularly impressive on the back nine at English Turn, where he posted a 4-under, 32.
Dolezal was named co-golfer of the week alongside Butler's Derek Tabor, who tied for fifth at the Dorado Beach Collegiate.
The Red Storm men's golf team will be back in action on March 9-11 when it competes in Babygrande Ross Collegiate Classic in Southern Pines, N.C.
