The Chino Hills, Calif., native earns her third Pitcher of the Week title of the 2026 campaign
NEW YORK — After another standout all-around performance, St. John's softball's Ana Serafinko has been named BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
This is the third time in Serafinko's career that she has earned the award in back-to-back weeks, previously accomplishing the feat on March 24 and 31 of 2025, and again on April 21 and 28, 2025.
The honor marks Serafinko's third Pitcher of the Week selection this season and the seventh of her career after the senior went 2-0 across four appearances in the circle. The senior southpaw logged 19.1 innings, allowing five earned runs on 16 hits while striking out 23 batters and issuing eight walks for a 1.81 ERA.
Serafinko opened the week with three scoreless innings of relief in a 7-3 win over Fordham on March 18, allowing two hits while striking out four.
In the series opener against Georgetown on March 20, the southpaw tossed a complete game, surrendering three unearned runs on five hits while striking out seven in a 5-3 victory.
Serafinko added 2.1 scoreless innings of relief with three strikeouts in game two against teh Hoyas before closing out the weekend with another complete-game effort on March 22. The senior struck out nine across seven innings to secure a 6-5 win and series victory for the Red Storm.
At the plate, Serafinko also made a significant impact, batting .400 (6-for-15) with four runs scored, 10 RBIs and a home run. In the midweek win over Fordham, the senior launched a grand slam as part of a career-high five-RBI performance.
With the latest recognition, St. John's has now earned conference honors in six consecutive weeks.
St. John's returns to action at Donald E. Walsh Field at Rice Oval on March 25 for a midweek matchup against Iona at 2 p.m. The game will be livestreamed on IonaGaels.com.
