Slade receives conference recognition for the first time in her career
NEW YORK — After posting her third four-hit performance of the season against Butler on March 29, St. John's softball's London Slade was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, the conference announced Monday.
The placement marks the first BIG EAST weekly recognition of Slade's career.
The Bowie, Md., native batted .583 (7-for-12) with four runs scored and one RBI across three starts this week. In the Red Storm's narrow 9-8 defeat against Butler on March 29, Slade recorded her third four-hit game of the season, continuing her strong year at the plate. She previously reached the four-hit mark against Southern Mississippi on Feb. 15 and against UConn on March 8.
Slade has recorded a hit in her last nine appearances and owns 46 knocks on the season, which is the second-highest total on the team. Her .393 batting average also ranks second on the squad, while the junior leads the Red Storm in sacrifice hits with seven.
With Slade's honor roll appearances, St. John's has earned conference recognition in seven consecutive weeks.
Slade and the Johnnies return to action in the Windy City this weekend when St. John's travels to DePaul for a three-game series from April 2-4.
