Women’s basketball program recognized nationally for academic performance
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's women's basketball program earned Women's Basketball Coaches' Association (WBCA) Academic Top 25 Special Mention, the organization announced on Tuesday.
The WBCA Academic Top 25 recognizes NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA and two-year college women's basketball teams across the nation that carry the highest combined GPA's inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season. The 2025-26 season is the 31st in which the WBCA has compiled academic honor rolls.
The Red Storm turned in a program record, 3.43 cumulative team GPA and had 11 student-athletes achieve a 3.0 or higher. St. John's was one of eight BIG EAST programs honored by the WBCA.
The Johnnies are coming off their fourth-straight winning season and the first 20-win campaign since 2022-23, when it went 23-9. The Red Storm concluded the 2025-26 year with a 22-12 overall record and earned an at-large bid into the Women's Basketball Invitation Tournament.
