Red Storm to play national 12-tournament slate
QUEENS, N.Y. – St. John's Men's Golf Head Coach Phil Wildermuth unveiled the Red Storm's 12-tournament 2026-27 schedule on Tuesday.
The Johnnies will compete all over the country during the upcoming season. St. John's slate features events in 10 different states, including trips to Hawaii and the famed Torrey Pines Golf Club in California.
St. John's will open the campaign with its home tournament The Doc Gimmler on Sept. 12-13 at Bethpage State Park Red Course. The event returns after a one-year hiatus due to last year's Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black. In 2024, the Red Storm finished runner-up with Peicheng Chen taking home medalist honors as the tournament returned to Bethpage Black for the first time since 1996.
The Johnnies will make their first road trip on Sept. 27-29 for the three-round UConn Invitational at GreatHorse. The Red Storm has finished third in each of its last two appearances in Hampden, Mass.
On Oct. 19-20, the Red Storm will return to the Nassau Intercollegiate for the first time since 2022. The Johnnies have won each of their last appearances at Nassau Country Club in Glen Cove in 2021-22.
For the second time in the last three years, St. John's will close its fall slate with a trip to Hawaii. Coach Wildermuth's squad will venture to the island of Honolulu for the Pearl at Kalauao Invitational on Nov. 4-5.
As the calendar turns to 2027, St. John's will return to the course on Feb. 8-9. The Red Storm will compete against in-league opponents in its lone match play format event of the season at Bear Lakes Country Club in Palm Beach, Fla.
Next up for the group is another trip down south to participate in the Savannah Intercollegiate at Club of Savannah Harbor in Georgia on Feb, 21-22. It will the Red Storm's first time competing in the tournament.
On March 8-10, the Johnnies will return to the Babygrande Donald Ross Intercollegiate for the eighth consecutive season.
Later that month, the Red Storm will partake in the UC San Diego Invitational hosted at the renowned Torrey Pines Golf Club North Course in La Jolla, Calif., on March 21-23. Torrey Pines South has played host to a pair of U.S. Open's in 2008 and 2021 and is a regular stop on the PGA Tour for the Farmers Insurance Open.
On April 5-6, St. John's will head to Atlantic City for Villanova's home event the Wildcat Fazio Invitational at Gallaway National Golf Club. Two weeks later, the Johnnies will wrap the regular season at the Rutherford Intercollegiate hosted by Penn State on April 17-18.
The 2027 BIG EAST Men's Golf Championships presented by JEEP will once again be held at Callawassie Island Golf Club in Okatie, S.C. The three-round conference tournament will tee off on May 1-3 as the Red Storm seek its 11th league title.
