Seth Roland

Seth Roland joined the Red Storm men's soccer team in August 2024 as an assistant coach bringing with him over three decades of experience as a head and assistant coach across all levels of college soccer.
During his time at St. John's, Roland has been an integral part of a Co-BIG EAST East Division Championship in 2024 and the program's 23rd NCAA Tournament appearance in 2025.
A two-time Division I Hall of Fame inductee at William & Mary and Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU), Roland amassed 360 career head-coaching victories and guided his programs to three NCAA Quarterfinal appearances, seven trips to the NCAA TournamentRound of 16, 16 NCAA Tournament berths and 19 regular season or conference tournament championships.
Roland, who spent 27 seasons with the Knights from 1997-2023, was ranked 10th among active NCAA Division I head coaches in wins (360) at the time of his departure. The Teaneck, N.J., native is the winningest coach in FDU history with 240 victories, including an NEC-record 120 in conference play. Roland led the Knights to eight league tournament championships and five regular-season titles during his tenure.
FDU made a pair of runs in the national postseason slate under Roland’s guidance, advancing to the 2001 NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals before reaching the Round of 16 the following year. The two-time NEC Coach of the Year led four players to All-America status and four more to conference Player of the Year honors. Thirteen students went on to be drafted in the MLS SuperDraft or signed professional contracts, including former US National Team standout and current Philadelphia Union captain Alejandro Bedoya.
Roland also served five seasons with William & Mary, earning an NCAA Tournament berth four times as head coach and reaching the quarterfinals in 1996. He tallied an 83-22-9 (.763) record with the Tribe. He also spent time at the Division II and Division III levels with Bridgeport and Christopher Newport, respectively.
