Makoto Isono

Makoto Isono, a St. John’s women’s basketball manager and graduate assistant during the 2017-18 season, joins the women’s basketball staff as Assistant Director of Basketball Operations. A native of Ibaraki, Japan, Isono serves as the team’s video coordinator and is primarily responsible for editing game film and compiling scouting videos. In his previous season at St. John’s, Isono assisted video operations, while providing support to the coaching staff in the preparation of statistical analysis and scouting reports. Isono’s basketball background includes stints working with a high school basketball team at Christ the King in Middle Village, NY, as well as on the collegiate staffs of the University of Tokyo in Tokyo, Japan where he also earned a bachelor’s degree in physical and health education. Isono received a master’s degree in sport management from St. John’s in 2018.
