On Mitchell: A physical inside presence ... soft hands and a knack for the basketball ... fought off injuries her rookie season but looks to return healthy in 2007-08.
Coach Barnes Arico on Mitchell: 'We[apos]re hoping to have Recee back at full strength by the start of the season. She showed good size for us last year, she[apos]s strong and passes well out of the post.'
As A Freshman In 2006-07: Appeared in 18 games for the Red Storm after suffering a preseason shoulder injury ... scored a career-high 15 points in collegiate debut at Boston University (Dec. 17) ... had five points in the Red Storm[apos]s win at Stony Brook (Dec. 30) ... scored four points and had two rebounds in key minutes at Pittsburgh (Jan. 13) ... two points vs. Providence (Feb. 10).
Before St. John[apos]s: Averaged 14.8 points and 9.8 rebounds for John Tyler High School ... a first team all-district and second team All-East Texas selection ... team was ranked as high as fourth in the nation during her sophomore season ... named Newcomer of the Year in East Texas that year.
