Maria Porth joined the St. John’s Athletic Communications staff as an Assistant Director of Athletic Communications in December 2025.
Prior to arriving in Queens, Porth spent more than two years as an Assistant Director of Athletic Communications at the College of the Holy Cross from August 2023 through November 2025. During her time in Worcester, she served as the communications contact for several programs, including women’s basketball, women’s soccer, women’s hockey, softball, men’s and women’s cross country and track and field and men’s and women’s golf.
Before Holy Cross, Porth spent the 2022-23 academic year as an Athletics Media Relations Intern at Villanova University. She served as the primary media relations contact for field hockey, baseball and men’s and women’s tennis.
Porth began her career in athletic communications as a student at Manhattanville College, working as a Game Day Communications Assistant during the 2019-20 academic year. She continued to develop her experience after transferring to the University of Saint Joseph, where she worked as an Athletic Communications Student Worker from 2020-22.
While at USJ, Porth also served as a women’s basketball student manager and completed a Marketing and Multimedia Specialist internship with the Great Northeast Athletic Conference.
A former multi-sport collegiate student-athlete, Porth competed in track and field during her time at Manhattanville before participating in tennis, lacrosse and basketball at the University of Saint Joseph.
A native of West Hartford, Conn., Porth graduated magna cum laude from the University of Saint Joseph in 2022 with a Bachelor of Arts in Child Study and a 3.8 GPA. She was a member of Chi Alpha Sigma and earned Dean’s List and Honor Roll recognition during her undergraduate career.
