KURASAKI NAMED BIG EAST ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Kurasaki helped the Storm to a pair of crucial conference victories on the road over the weekend. In St. Johns four-game victory over Villanova on Saturday, Kurasaki assisted on 50 kills and tallied 13 digs, despite battling some minor injuries.
Then on Sunday the Storm traveled to Georgetown for a must-win match with the Hoyas. The Storm came back from a two-games-to-one deficit to beat the Hoyas in five games and keep their BIG EAST tournament playoff hopes alive. Kurasaki amassed 51 assists and 10 digs on the evening.
For the week, Kurasaki totaled 101 assists (11.21 per game) and 23 digs (2.56 per game). She is currently ranked fifth in the BIG EAST standings with an 11.45 assists per game average.
The Storm will be back in action on Friday, November 10 when they host Connecticut and fight for the fourth and final playoff spot in the BIG EAST tournament. A victory over the Huskies would guarantee St. Johns its first trip to the conference tournament in four years. The 2000 BIG EAST volleyball tournament is scheduled for Nov. 17-19 at Notre Dame. Fridays showdown in Alumni Hall is scheduled for 7:30.
