St. John's came out strong in the first half, netting the first goal of the game in the third minute. Kristy Bergen (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa H.S.) took a corner kick that found its way directly into the back of the net for the score at the 2:53 mark.
After the Hoyas knotted the score twenty minutes later, the Red Storm took the lead for the final time of the game. Jen Taylor (South Hempstead, NY/Southside) stripped the ball from a Hoya forward and passed it to Joanna Dawson (Staten Island, NY/St. John Villa Academy). Dawson then fed a through ball to Jaime Clark (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa H.S.), who netted her second goal of the season at 30:16 in the match.
The Hoyas took command of the second half from the on set. Out-shooting the Red Storm 17-2 in the second half, Georgetown connected on two of those shots, pulling ahead of St. John's for a 3-2 victory.
The Red Storm return to action on Tuesday, September 19 at 3:30 p.m. to face Wagner College in Staten Island. They will return to DaSilva Memorial Field for their first BIG EAST Northeast Divisional matchup against Miami University on September 22 at 4 p.m.
