Volleyball Falls to Florida International, 3-2

Senior Kristy Mercein (East Meadow, N.Y.) and junior Sarah McCrary (Walnut, Calif.) each posted a double-double in the Red Storm attack. Mercein notched 12 kills and a match-high 19 digs. McCrary recorded a team-high 16 kills and added 12 digs on the night.
The Red Storm dropped a close first game (29-31), but rebounded in the second to overpower the Golden Panthers with a .389 hitting percentage for the 30-20 win. FIU took the third game while SJU posted nine errors and just seven kills. With the match on the line, St. John's fought for the fourth game and won 30-27. With the match tied a two-all, the Golden Panthers were able to take control in the deciding fifth game, with no attack errors and a .500 attack percentage.
The Red Storm return to BIG EAST action Sunday, October 21 at Alumni Hall versus Seton Hall at 2 pm. This match will include opportunities for fans to win Red Storm prizes.
