Bilezikjian Named Co-BIG EAST Player of the Week

Bilezikjian, rated as one of the top-100 collegians prior to the season by Baseball America, led the Red Storm to five wins as the team improved to 20-13 overall and 12-5 in the BIG EAST, second in the conference behind fifth-ranked Notre Dame.
He finished the week batting .421 (8-for-19) with two doubles, two triples and two home runs, scoring five runs and driving in four.
In a doubleheader sweep of Pittsburgh on Saturday, Bilezikjian went 5-for-8 with three runs scored and three RBI. In a 5-2 win in the first game, he hit an RBI triple and an RBI single. He followed that up in a 10-9 win with a solo home run, a double, a triple and two runs scored, falling a single short of hitting for the cycle. In addition, he relieved Greg Holmes in the eighth inning with two men on and none out and went 3.0 innings, allowing two runs on five hits, walking one and striking out six batters, earning up the win as the Red Storm completed the sweep.
He picked up his first win of the week, also a conference win, against West Virginia on Thursday. Bilezikjian relieved freshman Joe Reid in the eighth inning and threw the final 1.1 innings, allowing one hit, one walk and struck out three batters.
Bilezikjian is batting a team-best .347, leads the team with 41 hits, 12 doubles, two triples, 28 runs scored, 26 RBI and 16 stolen bases. He is 3-2 with a 6.41 earned run average in pitching appearances.
St. Johns plays three non-league games this week, hosting Long Island on Monday, Drexel on Tuesday and Fordham on Thursday, before a crucial three-game series at Seton Hall, beginning on Friday.
