Red Storm Announces 2003 Baseball Schedule

The Red Storm, who return seven starting position players and three starting pitchers, are hoping to improve on their 29-23 overall record and 14-12 mark in the BIG EAST last season. After being picked to finish seventh in the league and losing all three starting pitchers, St. Johns battled and was in contention for the postseason tournament until the final game of the season.
St. Johns opens its 56-game schedule with two pre-conference tournaments. The Red Storm open up on Friday, February 21 traveling to Mobile, Ala. for the Coca Cola Classic. They will spend three days in Mobile facing South Alabama, Southern Mississippi and Northwestern.
The Red Storm will move to Myrtle Beach, S.C. to take part in the Baseball at the Beach Tournament and play two games with Coastal Carolina. The tournament will take place between Friday, February 28 and Sunday, March 2, with the games against Coastal Carolina taking place on March 4 and 5.
The first home game at the Ballpark at St. Johns comes on Wednesday, March 12 as the Red Storm host Farleigh Dickinson at 3:30 p.m. Also highlighting their pre-conference schedule is a home-away-home series with local rival Hofstra, scheduled to take place from Friday, March 21 to Sunday March 23.
St. Johns opens its BIG EAST season with a three-game series at the Ballpark at St. Johns against Pittsburgh, a doubleheader on Saturday March 29 and a single game on Sunday, March 30. The Red Storm continue their conference schedule at home with back-to-back doubleheaders against Connecticut and Notre Dame on Friday, April 4 and Sunday, April 6.
Other home BIG EAST contests include three-game sets with West Virginia on April 26-27 and Boston College on May 10-11. The schedule closes with the BIG EAST Tournament in Bridgewater, N.J. on April 22-24.
