In three games last week, Schmidt had a hand in each of the seven goals scored by the Red Storm. She assisted on the game-winning goal by Dominica Reina against Binghamton, before scoring an insurance goal herself. In St. Johns 4-3 overtime win over Old Dominion, Schmidt notched two goals and two assists. To close out the week, she scored the Red Storms only goal in a 1-1 tie with Boston University. Schmidt amassed 11 points, three goals and three assists, in her second week of collegiate soccer.
In her first week as a member of the Red Storm, Schmidt totaled six points in three games. Schmidts first career goal was the gamewinner in the Red Storms win over Fordham. Schmidt followed that performance by scoring both Red Storm goals in the 2-2 tie with Evansville. In four shots on the season, she notched three goals.
She is currently tied for the BIG EAST lead in both goals (7) and points (17). Her 2.83 points per game average is the best in the BIG EAST. Schmidts marks for goals and points already rank among the best in St. Johns womens soccer history.
The Red Storm, who are currently ranked 8th in the Northeast region, open BIG EAST play this weekend with matches at Providence and Syracuse. On Friday, September 20, St. Johns battles the Friars at 4pm. On Sunday, September 22, the Red Storm takes on the Orangewomen at 1pm.
