St. John's Sweeps Virginia Tech, 3-0

St. John's took a quick lead, dominating all aspects of game one. Ahlers led the attack, connecting with setter Erin Poglits (West Bloomfield, Mich.), eight times out of 12 attempts for a .583 hitting percentage. Poglits finished with 39 assists and eight digs for the Red Storm.
The Red Storm held off a feisty Hokies squad in the second and third game with their outstanding team play and excellent defense. Richardson shut out Tech's attack with a total of seven blocks, while Robyn Kurasaki (Milliani, Hawaii) added 14 digs on the night. Both teams battled back and forth before the Red Storm took control late in both games, finishing off the Hokies.
The Red Storm return to Alumni Hall this Sunday in hopes of capturing their 23rd win of the season where they will face the Miami Hurricanes at 2 p.m.
