Volleyball History

Beginning as a varsity sport in 1994, volleyball has had great success on the court and has been equally as successful in the classroom. The team has been honored as having the best grade point average among Division I schools on five separate occasions. Other accomplishments are chronicled below:
- Set school record for wins in a single season with 26 in 2003
- Three BIG EAST Scholar-Athlete Award winners
- Three all-BIG EAST First Team members
- One all-BIG EAST Second Team
- One BIG EAST Rookie of the Year
- One all-BIG EAST honorable mention
- Three all-BIG EAST Rookie team members
- Two BIG EAST tournament appearances (1995, 1996)
- 43 BIG EAST Academic All-Stars for a total of 74 academic years
- One CoSIDA Academic All-District I Team member
- One Verizon Academic All-District Second Team member
- Three AVCA All-Northeast Region Team members
- Two AVCA All-American Honorable Mention
- One AVCA Northeast Region Freshman of the Year
- Five consecutive AVCA Team Academic Award recipients (Best grade point average in the country, 1997-2001)
