Red Storm Volleyball Falls To Seton Hall, 3-0

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - The St. John's volleyball team fell to Seton Hall, 3-0 (28-30, 26-30,23-30) this afternoon in a BIG EAST conference match played at Walsh Gymnasium in South Orange, N.J. The Red Storm fall to 22-8 overall and 4-4 in the BIG EAST, while the Pirates improve to 17-10 overall and 1-7 in the conference.
St. John's fell behind 0-1 in the match as Seton Hall won a highly contested game one, 28-30. Sophomore Jackie Ahlers (Stony Point, N.Y.) led the attack with seven kills and three service aces. Junior Yana Ruban (Kiev, Ukraine) and freshman Puna Richardson (Honolulu, Hawaii) added four kills apiece.
Seton Hall took a 2-0 lead, winning game two, 30-26. The Red Storm could not muster a comeback as the Pirates closed out the match with a 23-30 game three victory. For the match, St. John's was led by Ahlers' 12 kills and three service aces. Richardson added 10 kills, while freshman libero Nicole Colaluca (Naperville, Ill.) tallied 10 digs in the back row. Freshman setter Erin Poglits (West Bloomfield, Mich.)dished out 23 assists.
St. John's returns to action tomorrow, November 2 when they travel to Piscataway, N.J for a match versus Rutgers at 2 p.m.
