Two Womens Soccer Players Receive Soccer Buzz Honors

In her inaugural season, Schmidt finished out second in scoring for St. John's with 10 goals and six assists for 26 points. Schmidt earned numerous honors during the season, most notably being named BIG EAST Rookie of the Year. Schmidt's accomplishment marked the first time a St. John's rookie received the prestigious award. Schmidt was also named All-BIG EAST Second Team and All-BIG EAST Rookie Team. Her 26 points are the most ever by a rookie in St. John's history and places her third on the all-time list.
Rett finished the season third on the team in scoring with four goals and one assist for nine points. Earlier this year, Rett took home BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week accolades in addition to being named to Soccer Buzz America's Elite Team two times in 2002. Rett also was named to the First Team NCSAA/adidas Northeast Region Team.
