Red Storm Baseball Rained Out

The Red Storm and Seahawks, who were scheduled play at 3 p.m., will now play a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 2 p.m. The series finale will begin at noon on Sunday.
St. Johns (3-5) has lost its last two games after winning three-straight, including a 6-5 decision over 18th-ranked North Carolina, to capture the Baseball at the Beach Tournament title in South Carolina last weekend.
The Red Storm have been led by junior Drew Jackson (Morgantown, W. Va.), a third-team junior college All-American last year, who is a batting .471 (8-for-17), with a double, home run, four runs scored and four RBI. Senior centerfielder Billy Graiser (Muttontown, N.Y.) is batting .452 (14-for-31), with seven runs scored, three doubles, three RBI and three stolen bases.
After losing the first three games of the season, the Red Storm pitching staff was outstanding last weekend, winning all three games, allowing 11 runs, seven earned, on 22 hits in 30 innings pitched for a combined staff earned run average of 2.10. Sophomore starter Jim Wladyka (Rutherford, N.J.), graduate student Greg Holmes (Stony Brook, N.Y.) and junior Joe Reid (Rutherford, N.J.) each went at least six innings in each of their starts.
Wilmington enters the series with a 12-6 overall record, winners of four of their last five games.
Following the weekend series, the Red Storm return home and are scheduled to play their home opener at The Ballpark at St. Johns on Wednesday, March 12 at 3 p.m.
