St. Johns Baseball Doubleheader Postponed

JAMAICA, N.Y. -- The BIG EAST baseball doubleheader between West Virginia and St. Johns was postponed due to inclement weather in the New York City area.

West Virginia (27-11, 8-2 BIG EAST) and St. Johns (22-18, 8-6 BIG EAST) will now play a doubleheader on Sunday at The Ballpark. First pitch is slated for noon.

Red Storm junior Joe Reid (Rutherford, N.J.) and freshman Anthony Varvaro (Staten Island, N.Y.) are slated to start for St. Johns. Reid is 2-1 this season with a 5.06 earned run average, while Varvaro is 3-4 with a 5.01 ERA.

St. Johns junior shortstop Mike Rozema (Fair Lawn, N.J.) enters the weekend with a 21-game hit streak, the longest at St. Johns since Mike Dzurilla hit in 25-straight games back in 1999. One of the teams tri-captains, Rozema leads the team, the BIG EAST, and ranks fifth in the country, with a .467 average.

The teams will wrap up their three-game series on Monday. First pitch for that game will be 2 p.m.
