VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Villanova women's basketball team used a late first half run to put the game out of reach for St. John's, who fell to 9-15 overall and 3-10 in BIG EAST action with a 72-58 loss at Villanova. The Wildcats improve to 19-5 overall and 9-4 in the BIG EAST.

Senior Shemika Stevens (New York, N.Y.) added her own pair of three's to take the lead at 13-14. Red Storm graduate student Kim MacMillian (Toms River, N.J.) opened up scoring in the second half, recording four straight points for St. John's, making the score 50-33 at 18:37. The Red Storm's aggressive play by forcing turnovers and grabbing rebounds at 15:07 cut the lead to 16. But Villanova answered back, scoring 11 quick points and connecting on a three-point conversion to make the score 63-42. Stevens and sophomore Danielle Chambers (Brooklyn, N.Y.) combined to score the teams last eight points late in the second half, but the game was out of reach, as Villanova pulled away and won 72-58.
