"I'm glad we could host this meet today," said head coach Jim Hurt. Jasmine ran an exceptional race and we've closed the gap between our team and other schools like Fordham and C.W. Post. So, I'm very happy about that."
In the men's race, Matthew Flynn, Matt Lowenthal and Tom Finnerty captured the top three spots to lead Fordham to a first place team finish. The Rams also took eight of the top 10 places. C. W. Post captured second place with 58 points beating out the New York Institution of Technology who had 88 points.
Before the men's and women's races, there was a one mile run/walk that raised money for breast cancer research. The St. John's track and field team participated in the event by both running in it and raising money. "It's a great cause and I'm glad that we were able to participate in this," said Hurt.
St. John's next meet is the BIG EAST Championship on Friday, Oct. 28 at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, N.Y. The race begins at 12:30 p.m.
