Cross Country Records a Pair of Top-10 Finishes at Br. John "Paddy" Doyle Iona Meet of Champions

Red Storm are back in action on Sept. 26 at the Golden Eagle Invitational
BRONX, N.Y. – St. John's Cross Country began the 2026 season at the 31st Annual Br. John "Paddy" Doyle Iona Meet of Champions on Friday morning at Van Cortlandt Park.
The Red Storm claimed a pair of top-10 individual finishes and placed fourth as a team in a field of six.
"This is a solid start for our top runners," said Head Coach Elliott Blount. "The focus is to stay healthy while gaining fitness within a good block of training."
Naiara Garcia-Moreno was the top harrier for the Johnnies, placing third overall with a time of 19-minutes, 4.30 seconds. Attoya Harvey followed closely behind her teammate with a time of 19:39.30 to finish in eighth place.
Newcomers Jimena Aguilar Araque and Haloe Ball made their Red Storm debuts on Friday. Aguilar Araque ran 20:54.2 to finish in 24th, while Ball finished with a time of 23:48.8.
Mia-Sara Torres and Eileen Grenados rounded out the scoring for the Johnnies, recording times of 24:31.4 and 26:12.0, respectively.
St. John's is back in action on Saturday, Sept. 26 at the Golden Eagle Invitational in Stony Brook, N.Y.
