St. John's Head Coach Kim Barnes Arico
On the team's energy
"After our exhibition game, I was unsure about how we would come out, but I thought we really came out ready to play and focused tonight."
On the team's consistency
"There were some spurts where we really showed some good things and made some great runs but I think we need to be more consistent. I thought we defended Boston University really well in the first half and I thought we handled them okay in the second half defensively. It's early in the season and we need to continue to work on our conditioning and those sorts of things, but there were times when we really came together and looked like a great team."
On the 17-rebound, 12-point performance of Danielle Chambers
"Danielle Chambers stepped up and did an awesome job on the boards and she really just brought a great intensity level to the game."
On the play of sophomore Tiina Sten
"When Chambers got into foul trouble, Tiina Sten came in and really held her own and did a good job until we were able to get Danielle back in the game. It was nice to see because we really needed Tiina to step up."
On the balanced effort of the team
"I think we were able to get a lot of people some minutes, including our freshmen, who looked good for their first time out overall. I'm not 100 percent pleased, and of course we've got some work to do, but in spurts, we looked pretty good tonight."
