St. John's head baseball coach Ed Blankmeyer announced the dates of his 2005 Winter Camp and 2006 Summer and Fall camps this week. The winter camp is just around the corner, from Dec. 27-30, 2005 on the Queens Campus, while summer and fall camp dates will follow the 2006 St. John's baseball season.
Coach Blankmeyer, assistant coaches Mike Hampton and Scott Brown, as well as area high school coaches and college players will be among the camp staff, providing campers with a one-of-a-kind opportunity to learn from the some of the most knowledgable instructors in the business.
Spots for the instructional camps fill up quickly, so interested students are encouraged to register early. Online registration is provided above, as well as on the Ed Blankmeyer Baseball Camps page on RedStormSports.com.
Summer 2006 will feature three different camp sessions in June and July. At the end of June, either June 26-29 or June 27-30 depending upon school release dates, will be a four-day camp at the Ginty Field Baseball Complex in Morris Township in New Jersey. Enrollment is open to Morris Township residents between the ages of 7-12.
Later in the summer, Blankmeyer and staff will return to the St. John's Queens Campus for a pair of five-day camp dates. The first opportunity for instruction is from July 10-14, and the second comes the following week from July 17-21. Lower tuition rates apply for those who register before May 1, and a discount is available for students interested in both sesssions. Both camps are for students between the ages of 7-14 and will focus on fundamentals to improve basic baseball skills.
Two fall clinics will be available in 2006 - Mini-Camps on Saturday, Sept. 2 and Sunday, Sept. 3, and a Last Chance Mini Camp on Sunday, Oct. 22. The one-day sessions are intended for players between the ages of 15-18, including high school seniors, and are designed with the prospective student-athlete with a serious interest in St. John's University. Professional workouts, skills work and competitive games are part of the scheduled features of the program.
