- St. John's improves to 7-0 overall and 5-0 on its home court all-time against Stony Brook in a series that dates back to the 1999-2000 season. The Red Storm improves to 5-1 to start the season for the first time since the 2002-03 season and the fifth time in the last 16 seasons.
- A season-high 4,557 fans were in attendance for the game, bringing St. John's season attendance average to 3,887.
- Junior guard Daryll Hill missed tonight's game due to violation of team rules.
- St. John's connected on a season-high 59.0 percent (23-39) of its field goal attempts and made 40 percent (4-10) of its 3-point attempts for the first time this season.
- The Red Storm held the Seawolves to 18 first-half points, the second-lowest opponent point total of any half this season. St. John's held Maryland-Eastern shore to just 12 points in the first half of its season-opener on its way to a 77-40 win.
- St. John's held Stony Brook to 31.4 percent shooting (16-51) and 45 points. In six games this season, the Red Storm has held its opponents to 50 points or less four times and to 32 percent shooting or worse five times.
- St. John's turned a 15-15 game at the 7:56 mark of the first half into a 30-18 halftime lead with a 15-3 run to close the period. The Red Storm would not trail the rest of the way.
- Ricky Torres knocked down 3-of-3 field goal attempts over the key first-half run and scored seven of the team's 15 points. Torres connected on 4-of-6 shots and 2-of-3 three-pointers in the game and finished with a career-high 10 points.
- Senior Ryan Williams made his first start of the season and fourth of his career tonight and made his presence known early with two blocked shots. As a team, St. John's blocked seven shots - the fifth time in six games the Red Storm has blocked at least six shots in a game.
- Eugene Lawrence set a new season-high with 12 points and dished out five assists. The sophomore guard ranks sixth in the BIG EAST in assists (4.6 apg) and now has at least four assists in all six of the team's games this season.
- Cedric Jackson tied a career-high with five assists, four of which came in the first half. For Jackson, it was his seventh career-high set or matched in the 2005-06 season.
- Lamont Hamilton, the BIG EAST's second-leading rebounder entering tonight's game, narrowly missed his third double of the season with 17 points and nine rebounds. Hamilton scored 15 of his 17 points in the second half and also recorded two steals and two blocks.
