Queens, NY - In its second match of the fall season, the St. John's women's golf team worked to a fifth place finish at the Princeton Invitational last Saturday. The Red Storm completed the weekend with 639 strokes and two top ten performances.
Senior Christin Thomson was the top finisher for the Red Storm for the second straight weekend shooting a nine over par on the 72 par course. Day two saw Thomson improving by a stroke, recording a 76.
Coming in tied for ninth was freshman Brittany Lambertson. With 153 strokes, Lambertson shared the nine spot with Teri Schlang of Bucknell, Laura Woolgar of Seinna, Ally Caffrey of Richmond, Maggie Ward and Kaitlyn Dwyer of Georgetown.
"We played solid the first day and showed signs for improvement on the second," said head coach Ambry Bishop. "We haven't played up to our potential yet but we're hoping to see some improvement as the season continues."
The Red Storm gets its next opportunity to improve its record at the Yale Fall Intercollegiate in New Haven Connecticut, Sept. 31 and Oct. 1.
