Kim Barnes Arico
Head Coach, St. John's
On Villanova:
"We knew that they were going to be a tough team and they were going to make shots. It was important for us to give them just one shot. We talked about it all week at practice and we felt if we gave them just one shot, we would have the opportunity to win the game."
On the progress St. John's has made during her tenure:
"One of the most important things was getting people to believe in our vision. It started with Angela Clark and then Kia Wright and then we got a lot of people who just took a chance and believed in us. Besides the fact that they believed in us, they were true winners so when they came here, it made such a difference."
On Danielle Chambers and Angela Clark:
"Danielle Chambers and Angela Clark have just been fabulous for us. Danielle is undersized compared to most of the kids in the BIG EAST and she is really just a presence. She never stops working."
Kia Wright
Guard, St. John's
On the second half:
"The second half we came out ready to play. We were making the shots. Coach told us to be confident and come out intense."
On the victory:
"As for us, we have to keep moving on. It was a big win for us today and I'm happy but we have another game coming up."
On the first game of the double-header at Madison Square Garden, the St. John's men's team handing Pittsburgh its first lost of the season:
"We were pumped for the men. We said if they get that win then we need to go out there and win. It was a great day for us."
On playing at MSG:
"It's a big accomplishment for us. Being New Yorkers and getting to play at the Garden is a great feeling. It's a dream to come here and play."
Greeba Barlow
Guard, St. John's
On the second half:
"Coach told us to go out confident and we attacked their weaknesses and in return came up with a big win. "
On playing at MSG:
"It was a great opportunity to play in front of the alumni and it was my first opportunity to play at Madison Square Garden. It was a big deal for the team as a whole, but I just looked at it as another game and didn't really look at the crowd. I had my family here supporting me so playing here was very exciting."
Harry Perretta
Head Coach, Villanova
On St. John's:
"Their speed is a major factor. That's why they are winning so many games this year. If you can play smaller, you don't need size. They just need to be more persistent offensively. Once they do that they can move up to the next level."
