WASHINGTON, D.C. - The St. John's University women's basketball team handily defeated Georgetown Saturday afternoon, 74-54, for its second-straight BIG EAST victory. Greeba Barlow scored a team-high 15 points, while Angela Clark posted her eighth double-double of the year with 14 points and 16 rebounds.
With the win, St. John's improved to 12-2, 2-1 in the BIG EAST, while Georgetown dropped to 7-6, 0-2 in the conference.
Barlow was dominant in the first half, as she scored the first points of the game with a 3-pointer 15 seconds into the contest. From there, the senior guard finished the half a perfect 6-for-6 from the field for 15 points to help St. John's take a 44-18 lead at halftime.
The Red Storm was clicking on all cylinders in the first half, shooting 53 percent from the field while limiting the Hoyas to just 13 percent.
The second half was more of the same as St. John's built an eventual 51-30 rebounding advantage and won by a final score of 74-54.
Clark's 16 rebounds were a game-high and she added 14 points for her eighth double-double of the year.
Danielle Chambers put together another impressive performance in the low post, tallying 12 points and nine rebounds. Kia Wright, meanwhile, netted 10 points and also had five rebounds, eight assists and three steals in the solid all-around performance.
Tara Walker and Tiina Sten each had six points for the Red Storm, while Monique McLean had five.
Kieraah Marlow led Georgetown with 15 points and eight rebounds.
St. John's is back in action on Wednesday, Jan. 11, against conference foe Pittsburgh. Tip off from Carnesecca Arena is scheduled for 7 p.m.
