The Red Storm men's golf team finished third at the Treasure Coast Classic. St. John's hosted the annual event in Tampa, Fla. on March 7-8 and were edged by number one Johnson and Wales by two strokes, finishing with a 581.
Sophomore George Zolotas took fifth place overall. He carded a two-underpar-70 and three-overpar-73 in two rounds of the Classic.
Senior Brian McArdle finished 10th with a six-overpar-146 on the par 72 course. Despite being the low scorer overall in day one with a 70, freshman Casey Calmi took 12th place, carding a seven-overpar-147. Classmate Kevin Velardo tied Calmi at the 12th place.
"It was a great trip and we were real close to finishing very well," said head coach Frank Darby. "We just didn't put it all together but it was a very positive experience for our guys."
Next up for the Red Storm will be the William and Mary Invitational on March 17-19.
