The Red Storm finished runner-up at The Doc Gimmler
QUEENS, N.Y.– The St. John's men's golf team returns to action on Sunday to compete in the UConn Invitational at GreatHorse.
The competition from Hampden, Mass., will run from tomorrow until Tuesday with the teams playing one round each day. GreatHorse is a 7,093-yard, par 72 track and tee times will start at 8:30 a.m. on each day. Live scoring will be available on SCOREBOARD.
The Johnnies will compete in a 15- team field against- UConn, Boston College, Bryant, Fairfield, Fairleigh Dickinson, Holy Cross, Lafayette, Merrimack, Providence, Rhode Island, Sacred Heart, Siena, St. John's, Villanova.
The Red Storm line-up will feature Josh Yan, Eli Weidmann, Max McColgan, Matthew DiFiore and Curro Martinez.
In St. John's 2026-27 season debut, the squad placed runner-up at its home tournament The Doc Gimmler on Sept. 12. The Johnnies carded a 3-under, 557, over two rounds at Bethpage State Red Course. The final round was canceled due to heavy rains on Long Island.
All five Red Storm golfers shot even or under par in at least one of the two rounds in Farmingdale. Two underclassmen paced the Johnnies by finishing inside the top-eight on the leaderboard.
Josh Yan placed fourth logging a 3-under, 137, in his collegiate debut flushing a team-high seven birdie putts. Eli Weidmann tied for seventh place after posting a 1-under, 139, in Farmingdale.
