Women's Golf Leads The Hartford Invitational

HARTFORD, CONN. -
After day one of the Hartford Invitational, the Red Storm women's golf team stands in first place with a 326. All five St. John's golfers placed in the top-15, with Christin Thomson (Ft. Frances, Ontario, Canada), Brittany Lambertson (Northport, N.Y.) and Jaclyn Sanders (Brights Grove, Ontario, Canada) coming in second, third and fourth, respectively.
Thomson carded a seven-over par 80 to secure third place while Lambertson came in one stroke behind her with an 81. Sanders is currently in a three-way tie for fourth with an 82.
Senior Maggie Steciuk (London, Ontario, Canada) ranks ninth overall after the first round and is right on the heals of her teammates with an 83. Classmate Katie Lebel (Mooretown, Ontario, Canada) is having her strongest outing of the spring so far with an 85 for the day, coming in 14th.
The Red Storm will look to clinch its first NCAA win of the season when the Hartford Invitational continues tomorrow. Participants will tee off at 9 a.m. for the second round of the event.
