QUEENS, N.Y. - Following the postponement of its Wednesday doubleheader against Fairleigh Dickinson, the St. John's baseball team has announced several changes to the remainder of its 2006 schedule.
The doubleheader against the Knights will move to Tuesday, April 18th, and consist of two seven-inning contests beginning at 2 p.m., instead of the originally scheduled seven- and nine-inning games. The 3 p.m. matchup with Long Island University will be moved from April 18th to Wednesday, May 10th, as part of a doubleheader that also includes an evening game against Iona. The Red Storm will play Long Island at 3 p.m., and then take on Iona at 7:30 p.m. in a day-night doubleheader.
St. John's resumes its 2006 schedule this weekend when it travels to Pittsburgh for a three-game BIG EAST series, beginning on Friday, April 7 at 7 p.m. The Red Storm enters the Friday contest on a 12-game win streak, including a 6-0 start in conference play. St. John's sits alone in first place in the BIG EAST with its unbeaten record and begins its conference schedule with six straight wins for just the second time in school history.
