SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The St. John's softball team earned the eighth seed at the 2006 BIG EAST Softball Championships, held May 11-14 in South Bend, Ind. After two days of rain delays, the Red Storm took on the top seed Louisville in the quarterfinals of the tournament on May 13. St. John's took an early 2-0 lead but eventually fell 8-2.
