Two Red Storm Soccer Players Competing Internationally This Summer

Two St. John???s University women???s soccer players will compete at the international level this summer. Holly Ryder, a second team All-BIG EAST member, will play professionally in Denmark while Jane Vongvorachoti will participate in two tournaments with the Thailand National Team.
Ryder, a Plantation, Fla., native, capped off a standout career with a stellar senior season, as she led St. John???s with six goals, four assists and 16 points. She was one of two Red Storm players to earn weekly BIG EAST accolades.
In Denmark, Ryder will play for the Fortuna Hjorring club. She leaves on May 17 to begin the team???s season competing against other clubs at the international level.
???The opportunity to play professionally overseas is something I???ve always wanted to do,??? Ryder said. ???It really is a dream come true for me.???
Vongvorachoti, meanwhile, will play in the AFF Women???s Championship, being held in Vietnam from May 29-June 2, and the AFC Women???s Asian Cup in Australia from July 16-30.
The Football Association of Thailand opened the National Training Center last month and the country hopes to host the 2011 Women???s World Cup.
???I???m grateful for this opportunity,??? Vongvorachoti said. ???I???d like to see more countries take women???s soccer seriously and get more people???s support. I also want to help coach youth teams while I???m there.???
