St. John's Women's Soccer Announces 2006 Season Schedule

2006 Promotional Calendar
The St. John???s women???s soccer team will open the 2006 campaign on Friday, Aug. 25, at Fairleigh Dickinson, and will face 11 conference opponents in the second season of the 16-team BIG EAST Conference, the university announced Monday.
Season and individual game tickets are now available for purchase by following the link above or by calling 1-888-GO-STORM. A special group rate of $3 per ticket is available for groups of 20 or more, and soccer youth team interactive opportunities are available by calling 718-990-5839.
Head coach Ian Stone, who welcomes 16 newcomers in addition to nine returners from last year???s squad, is entering his 13th season at the helm of the Red Storm. Seniors Erin Bohn and Natasha Lee highlight the strong group of returners for Stone???s team.
The Red Storm opens the year with three exhibition matches, beginning on Aug. 25 at local rival Hofstra. An Aug. 18 exhibition at Stony Brook and a home one against Monmouth rounds out St. John???s preseason.
The regular season gets underway on Aug. 25 at Fairleigh Dickinson, followed by the home-opener on Sept. 2 vs. St. Joseph???s (Pa.). That game???s kick-off from Belson Stadium is 7 p.m.
A non-conference tilt at Fairfield follows on Sept. 5, followed by the NYC Nike Classic, which will be played at Belson Stadium on Sept. 8 and 10. Joining the Red Storm in the tournament are Sacred Heart, Columbia and Fordham.
BIG EAST play kicks off Sept. 15 at Syracuse, and St. John???s returns home for a final non-conference tune-up against Oregon State on Sept. 19.
BIG EAST matches at Pittsburgh (Sept. 22) and at home against West Virginia (Sept. 24) come next, before the Red Storm hits the road for a four-game road swing at Louisville (Sept. 29), Cincinnati (Oct. 1), Connecticut (Oct. 6) and Providence (Oct. 8).
The regular season concludes with four-straight matches at Belson Stadium against Seton Hall (Oct. 13), Rutgers (Oct. 15), South Florida (Oct. 20) and Marquette (Oct. 22).
This year???s conference tournament will be played at conference sites, with the semifinals and finals taking place at Morrone Stadium on the campus of the University of Connecticut on Nov. 3 and 5.
