Red Storm takes Eighth at Legends Shootout

QUEENS, N.Y. - The St. John's women's golf team traveled to Franklin, Ind. this weekend to compete in the Shootout-at-the-Legends. The Red Storm took eighth overall with a 74-over 938 (314, 317, 307). The team faced some of the toughest competition in the country and saw Eastern Michigan win the tournament with an astounding 24-over 888 (290, 305, 293).
"We played much better in the last round but this outing was not our best," said head coach Ambry Bishop. "The field we face was one of the toughest we will see all year and our last round is a good sign that we are really starting to improve."
St. John's was once again lead by senior Brittany Lambertson. Lambertson finished tied for sixteenth overall with a 13-over 229 (77, 79, 73). Sophomore Renee Cloutier turned in a solid outing as well, also finishing tied for sixteenth with a 13-over 229 (77, 78, 74). St. John's did show improvement throughout the tournament and improved greatly from the second to third round. The Red Storm had a great final day of 307, which tied for third best of the round.
The Red Storm will now travel to Piscataway, N.J. to compete in the Rutgers Women's Invitational. The first round begins on Friday Oct. 12 at the Rutgers University Golf Course.
