QUEENS, N.Y. - St. John's softball head coach Amy Kvilhaug, along with assistant coaches Laura Taylor and Amanda Walling, will host fall hitting, pitching, and defensive clinics. St. John's coaches as well as current players will be assisting in the clinic this year. The hitting clinic will begin at 9:30 a.m. on November 11th and pitching at 1 p.m. the same day. A second hitting clinic will be offered on November 18th at 9:30 p.m. with a defensive clinic at 1 p.m. Clinics are open to girls ranging from 10 years old to seniors in high school.
The main goal of the hitting clinic is to improve general skills in the art of batting as well as creating a competitive and fundamentally sound player. During the pitching clinic, the attendees will be educated about the fundamentals of solid pitching and taught several different pitches. The defensive clinic which is new to this year's program will help with fielding techniques as well as proper form and angles. The coaches on hand will provide drills for the girls to take home with them so they may continue to advance their sills.
Players should bring their own cleats, sneakers, bats and gloves. Please note that lunch will not be served in between sessions
Each clinic will be two hours long and will take place at Red Storm Field in Queens, N.Y. In case of inclement weather, the clinics will be moved inside to Carnesecca Arena. Each session is $85, which must be paid in full. Checks can be made out to Amy Kvilhaug. Players must register by Nov. 7.
