Financial Aid
In order to remain eligible to compete for St. John's University and the NCAA, you may only receive financial assistance from the following sources:
- Aid administered by St. John's University (academic, need based gift aid or athletic) - Must be approved by head coach and athletic compliance
- State and Federal Aid (i.e. Pell Grant)
- Money from anyone on whom you are naturally or legally dependent
- Government loan (i.e. Stafford) or private loans taken out through a financial institution and in your name only
- Financial Aid awarded to you by an outside source on a basis other than athletics ability - Must be approved by head coach and athletic compliance
- Financial Aid from an entity outside your institution that meets NCAA requirements (i.e. US Olympic Committee, ROTC) - Must be approved by head coach and athletic compliance
As a prospective student-athlete it is your responsibility to notify your Head Coach and the St. John’s University Compliance Office immediately if you are receiving any aid from any outside organizations. Under NCAA rules all outside aid must be awarded directly through the St. John’s University Office of Financial Aid. A prospective student-athlete cannot accept any scholarships from any outside organization until prior approval is received from the Head Coach and the Compliance Office. The Office of Financial Aid will not post any aid to a student-athletes account from an outside organization until approval is received from the Compliance Office.
A maximum athletic full grant-in-aid is an athletic scholarship which consists of tuition, room and board, fees and books.
