QUEENS, N.Y. - The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) has announced that men's soccer associate head coach Marc Reeves has been named the East Region Assistant Coach of the Year.
"In his 10 years with the team, Marc has continually done a fantastic job in all aspects," said head coach Dr. Dave Masur. "He has been involved in all facets from coaching, recruiting, organization, management and player development, and has done a remarkable job to help this program remain among the best in the nation."
This is the second major coaching honor for Reeves, who was an Aflac Assistant Coach of the Year in 2002.
This season Reeves helped direct St. John's to the College Cup and to a BIG EAST Red Division Regular Season title. The Red Storm finished as national semifinalists, BIG EAST Tournament runners-up and posted a 19-3-3 record. The squad's 19 wins are the second-most in program history. The Red Storm finished the season ranked No. 4 in the NSCAA final postseason ranking.
In 10 seasons on the coaching staff at St. John's, Reeves has helped lead the Red Storm to three College Cup appearances and two BIG EAST Tournament Championships. Reeves became Masur's top assistant in August 2001 and was promoted to associate head coach in April 2006.
