Red Storm Wraps Up Homestand With Louisville

QUEENS, N.Y. - The St. John's women's basketball team will conclude its two-game homestand on Wednesday when it hosts Louisville. Tip-off is slated for 7:05 p.m. at Carnesecca Arena.
• The game will feature live stats and will have video and audio streamed on the internet. Fans can go to RedStormSports.com to access both features. Streaming will be subscription-based through "StormTracker All-Access." The cost for the service is either $9.95 per month or $79.95 for the year. Live stats will be free the entire season.
• St. John's is coming off a 69-66 loss to Villanova on Saturday, dropping the team's record to 12-11, 3-7 BIG EAST. The setback extended the Red Storm's losing streak to two games. Kia Wright led the way for the offense with 23 points, but that wasn't enough to overcome the Wildcats' perimeter shooting in the second half of 53.3 percent. Two other players scored in double figures for the Red Storm, as Monique McLean chipped in 14 while Joy McCorvey added 10 in the contest.
The Series With The Cardinals
• The game between the Red Storm and the Cardinals is the fourth meeting all-time between the schools. Louisville leads the series 2-1, winning the last two contests. The teams first met up during the 2005-06 campaign when the BIG EAST expanded to a 16-team conference. St. John's won the initial meeting, 79-63 on Feb. 15, 2006.
Storm Tracker
• The Red Storm has outscored its opponents this season by an average of 3.9 points. The team is averaging 67.6 points per game, while its opposition nets 63.7 per contest.
• St. John's is also more effective in its shooting, both overall and from long range. The team is connecting on 40.9 percent from the field and 34.7 percent from downtown, while holding its opponents to 38.7 from the field and 30.3 from 3-point range.
• On the defensive side, St. John's has been a menace to other teams this year thanks to its shot blocking. The team is swatting an average of 3.9 balls per game and has out-blocked its opponent on 13 occasions.
Kia Moving Wright Up The Record Books
• Already ranked in numerous career categories entering her senior campaign, Kia Wright continues to climb higher and higher up the rankings. With 23 points against Villanova on Feb. 9, Wright reached the 1,400-point plateau for her career and moved into fifth place in the St. John's all-time scoring list. She has already scored over 230 points this season, surpassing the 1,200 and 1,300 mark.
McLean Earns Second-Straight Weekly Honor
• Monique McLean was named to the PrestoSports/Met Basketball Writers Association Honor Roll on Feb. 11. McLean had a strong offensive week for the Red Storm, posting consecutive double-digit scoring games. She averaged 18.5 points per game and shot 46.2 percent from the field. Against Georgetown, the junior posted her third-straight 20-point scoring contest with a team-high 23. She shot 57.1 percent from the field, going 8-of-14, and was 50.0 from long distance on 3-of-6 shooting. In her start against Villanova, McLean finished with 14 points and was perfect from the charity stripe, converting all five tries.
900 Points And Counting
• With 24 points against Marquette on Feb. 2, Monique McLean reached and surpassed the 900-point plateau and now sits at 956 for her career. The junior has been a force on the offensive side of the ball since she arrived in Queens and is currently leading the team with a 14.7 points-per-game average. She is close to scoring 1,000 points and is only 44 shy of becoming the 16th person in Red Storm history to achieve the feat.
On Deck
• The St. John's women's basketball team will hit the road and travel to Providence on Saturday. The contest marks the 53rd meeting between the schools, who have split the all-time series 26-26.
