QUEENS, N.Y. - The St. John's softball team faces the Red Foxes of Marist this Wednesday, April 16, at 3 p.m. The two teams will square off in a doubleheader at Red Storm Field in Queens, N.Y.
• The Red Storm leads the all-time series with the Red Foxes, 17-7.
• The teams last met in the 2005 season for a doubleheader. St. John's took game one 5-2, but the second game was cancelled due to poor weather conditions.
• St. John's has won the last seven games against Marist and has not lost to the Red Foxes since April 5, 1999.
• The Red Storm is coming off a tough week with losses to conference rivals Connecticut and Providence. St. John's has had a slow start to April, as the team is 2-9 this month. Last year was the first season the Red Storm had a winning record in April since the 2004 season.

STORM TRACKER
"I Want To Hit Above .350"
In non-conference play this year, sophomore Brandy Reyes has hit an astounding .397. The catcher has also recorded 13 runs on 29 hits with four doubles, one home run, 12 RBI and four stolen bases. Reyes also boasts a .493 slugging percentage and a .505 on-base percentage.
Freahman Phenom
Freshman Kacee Cox continues her great first year campaign for the Red Storm. Against non-conference opponents, the third baseman is hitting .349 and leads St. John's with four home runs and 21 RBI. She also leads the team with 53 total bases and a .616 slugging percentage.
Stronger Than Rox
Junior Roxy Struble's has shown she is equally impressive against the BIG EAST as anyone else. The first baseman is hitting .310 over 28 starts with 12 runs on 27 hits. She is second on the team with nine doubles, and 13 RBI in non-conference play.
Leading It Off
Freshman Chelsea Durning is proving that Cox isn't the only first year player on the Red Storm you have to worry about. The leadoff hitter is batting .273 over the past month with 17 runs, four doubles, six RBI, 10 walks, and four stolen bases in games outside of the BIG EAST.
Making the BIG EAST Funn
Graduate transfer Alyson Funn spent the first four years of her career playing against teams out of the BIG EAST and she continues her impressive play against non-conference opponents this year. Funn is batting .286 with 10 runs, three doubles, one home run, five RBI and four stolen bases in 28 games.
This Kat Is Dangerous
Kat Lawrence has shown that she has great stuff and has proved it with her numbers against non-conference foes. The pitcher has struck out 79 batters in 80.1 innings and completed seven of her 13 starts, resulting in five wins for the Red Storm.
SCOUTING MARIST
• The Red Foxes are 12-21 this season and 0-3 in the MAAC.
• Marist went 20-30, 9-7 last year. The Foxes return 12 letterwinners along with all nine starters and four pitchers.
• Head coach Erin Layton is in her second year with Marist.
• The Red Foxes are paced by junior Melissa Giordano. The infielder is batting .372 in 33 games. Giordano also has 15 runs on 42 hits with seven doubles, a triple, four home runs, 12 RBI and two stolen bases. The third-year player is the only member of the Red Foxes to hit over .240 this year.
• Freshman Kate Malloy has been solid for Marist this season. The outfielder is hitting .237 over 33 starts for the Foxes. She has recorded eight runs on 22 hits with five doubles, a triple, one home run, four RBI and two stolen bases.
• Senior Pamela de la Llave leads Marist in stolen bases with five on the season. The outfielder is third in runs (11) and first in triples (2). de la Llave also has a double, two home runs and nine RBI on the year.
• The Marist pitching staff is anchored by senior Megan Rigos. Rigos has a 1.79 ERA on the season in 113.1 innings pitched. She has struck out 144 batters while only walking 25. She boasts a 9-10 record on the year with 14 complete games in 15 starts.
• Junior Caitlin Carpentier boasts a 2.89 ERA and two wins on the year. She has struck out 65 batters in 63.0 innings.
