QUEENS, N.Y. - Through most of my life, I have been playing this great game of soccer. Soccer has given me the chance to travel all over the nation playing in various tournaments. It has also allowed me to meet people and create great friendships. Soccer also helped bring me to St. John's, play Division I soccer and experience New York City - which is quite different from my home town in Colorado. Overall, I have always looked forward to what is coming next as I continue playing soccer.
This past spring season has been great for preparing for our future. This spring I finally returned after recovering from hip surgery for five months, and it makes me appreciate soccer even more now. As a team, we have grown closer and have pushed each other to learn more and play with confidence. Every practice is intense, challenging and fun. We are looking forward to next season and overcoming any challenges we may face.
Although I am excited for next year, I know it's going to be different. Now going into my senior season, I know that I only have one year left in this game that I made my life. It's an overwhelming feeling when I think about not going to practice and not playing any more games. However, I am overjoyed about the fact that I will be spending my last soccer moments at St. John's with all of my teammates. We are finally at the point where we all want the same thing and will put everything into reaching our goals.
Even though it's hard knowing that the end of soccer is in sight, I can't wait to experience every moment of it. This includes winning every battle and even those moments when we are conditioning and just want it to be over. I can't wait to play for my coaches and learn even more about myself and the game. I can't wait to play on that beautiful soccer field for one more season. And finally, I can't wait to play with my team and, most importantly, my friends. These girls will push me to be my best on and off the field and I appreciate every single one of them. My teammates will be there for me and help to make my last season of soccer one of the best, most memorable seasons in my life.
