Kovaleva Named To BIG EAST Volleyball Weekly Honor Roll

QUEENS, N.Y. - For the second straight week, St. John's volleyball senior Valeria Kovaleva was named to the BIG EAST weekly honor roll, announced by the conference on Monday. Kovaleva led the Red Storm to a 3-0 record this past week with wins over Stony Brook, Cincinnati and Louisville.
Kovaleva registered double-doubles in each of STJ's weekend BIG EAST matches: 11 kills, 14 digs against the Bearcats on Sept. 26 and a career-high 20 kills and 14 digs against the Cardinals on Sept. 28. She nearly recorded a double-double against the Seawolves on Tuesday, Sept. 23.
The senior currently leads the Red Storm with 3.25 kills per set and 3.69 points per set, while ranking second on the team with 3.82 digs per set.
Kovaleva and the rest of the St. John's volleyball team returns to action Friday, Oct. 3, when the squad travels to Milwaukee, Wis., to take on the Marquette Golden Eagles. First serve is scheduled for 8 p.m. EST.
