Five Women's Soccer Players Earn NSCAA Academic Honors

QUEENS, N.Y. - Five St. John's women's soccer players have earned National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas Scholar All-East Region honors, as announced by the organization.
Juniors Vaila Barsley, Sarah McGrath, Amanda Pasciolla, Nicole Pasciolla and Kelly McConnell recorded grade point averages of 3.7 or better to receive honorable mention accolades, marking the first-career NSCAA All-East academic honors for each player.
Amanda Pasciolla led the way with a perfect 4.0 GPA in economics, and twin sister Nicole Pasciolla was a close second with a 3.98 average in economics. McConnell recorded a 3.8 GPA in biology, while Barsley had a 3.78 GPA in accounting and McGrath registered a 3.76 grade point average in psychology.
Earlier in the academic year, the women's soccer team was honored with the NSCAA Team Academic Award. With a 3.48 GPA for the 2007-08 academic year, STJ earned the academic accolade for the sixth-straight season. The GPA was the highest recorded under head coach Ian Stone and tied for the 24th best out of the 264 women's teams that were honored ranging from Division I to Division III. St. John's academic success also ranked among the best in Division I schools listed and was tops among the BIG EAST teams named for the honor.
