QUEENS, N.Y. -
Head Coach Kim Barnes Arico
Thoughts on the game:
"I thought it was a great game. They made a run and gave us some pressure towards the end, which caused a bunch of turnovers and allowed them to come back into it. We had opportunities down the stretch to win the game. I'm hoping that all of these tight games are preparing us for the long haul of our season."
On the final 1.5 seconds:
"I thought there might have been a foul. We ran a screen across and didn't have any options open. So for them to defend that as well as they could have, there may have been a foul. The referees made a difficult call at that point to call the intentional."
On the defensive pressure against Monique McLean:
"I think they pressured us well. They didn't allow us to get into the flow of our offense. I think once they started pressuring us, we couldn't really get Monique the ball and when she did have the ball, she felt a lot of pressure and turned the basketball over."
Sophomore Guard Sky Lindsay
On the loss:
"We want to win every game, as many games as possible. Being that they were so close showed that we played our all and left everything out on the court. It just didn't end as successful as we would have liked. We always look forward. We try to stay positive and take every loss as a learning experience and move on."
Freshman Forward Da'Shena Stevens
On the loss:
"I think it's frustrating to lose any game. When it's close, like tonight, it's even tougher, but like coach said, these losses must be preparing us for something big."
