Mike Ballo Jr. Named BIG EAST Golfer Of The Month

QUEENS, N.Y. - Red Storm senior Mike Ballo Jr. earned BIG EAST Golfer of the Month honors, as announced by the league on Friday. Ballo posted two top-10 showings in October.
He tied for eighth place at the STJ-hosted Mission Inn Intercollegiate (Oct. 2-4) after firing a 76-70-72-218 (+5). He took second place at the Philadelphia Big 5 Invitational (Oct. 10-11) with a 72-71-143 (+1). He also tied for 28th place at the Georgetown Intercollegiate (Oct. 19-20).
This fall, the St. John's co-captain carried momentum over from a successful summer, in which he won two tournaments and competed in the 2009 U.S. Amateur Championship. He notched four top-25 showings in five fall tournaments, including three finishes in the top 15. Ballo Jr. and his Red Storm teammates are currently preparing for the 2010 spring season.
