Women's Soccer Announces 2009 Spring Schedule

QUEENS, N.Y. - The spring season is on the horizon for the St. John's women's soccer team, as it opens its spring schedule on March 22 at Belson Stadium. The season features seven competition dates, two of which are exempt.
"I am really pleased with the teams we have scheduled," head coach Ian Stone said. "Our opponents are going to challenge us both tactically and physically and will help the team get back into rhythm as we prepare for another great season in 2009. We have a great nucleus of returning players and our schedule will test us. I know the team is excited to get on the field, and I am excited to see how they respond to the challenge."
St. John's will open its schedule at home when it hosts the Japanese College All-Stars on March 22. The Red Storm will travel to face local rival Fordham on March 27. St. John's will return to Belson Stadium for a two-date homestand on March 29 and April 17. The Red Storm will welcome Marist on March 29 and then local foe Hofstra on April 17.
The Red Storm will hit the road for its last two contests of the spring schedule, traveling to the West Chester (Pa.) Classic on April 19 and to Holmdel, N.J., on April 25 to face Rutgers in a doubleheader with the STJ men's team.
The team will take a break from its schedule on April 18 and welcome back former players for its annual alumnae match held at 4:30 p.m.
