QUEENS, N.Y. - Red Storm lacrosse senior Drew Schanen and junior Gavin Buckley received ECAC Weekly honors after St. John's dramatic, 12-11, overtime loss to Penn State on Saturday.

The senior's four goals came off just nine shots, six on goal against Nittany Lion three-time ECAC Goaltender of the Year, Drew Adams. Schanen's man-up goal at 4:38 in the third period was the start of the Red Storm's six-goal rally to tie the score in regulation. The senior from North Brunswick, N.J., scored STJ's 10th and 11th (tying goal) in the fourth quarter which sent the conference contest to overtime. Schanen currently, leads St. John's in goals (22) and points (26). Schanen is tied for sixth in the league with 2.60 points per game.
Buckley had a career-day between the pipes for the Red Storm with 19 saves; allowing just one Penn State goal in the second half of regulation. Buckley was monumental in the second half, allowing St. John's to rally back with six goals; while keeping Penn State quiet with 11 saves. On the season, Buckley has posted a .542 save percentage and a 9.23 goals against average.
For both Schanen and Buckley, this week's honors are the third time this season either student-athlete earned a spot in the league's weekly accolades. Buckley was named Co-Defensive Player of the Week on March 2 and received honor roll accolades on March 16.
